This article describes how the modules work in general. The article show how it works on the teacher side of the system as well as for the students


The module concept inside Ortrac is a toolbox for the purpose to create an interactive student portfolio. In this article, we will look at the basics of module logic. We will show the menus for a teacher and a student to get a general feeling, of how to work with modules.

Teacher view

Find the course

The modules exist at the top of the Events. Find an event:

  • Go to the left-hand menu Events/(specific course)


Under the Info tab, you will find a section called Modules (Create a module). In this example you have 3 different types of modules in the list:

  • Completed exam (Klarat skriftlig tentamen)
  • Portfolio (HT 21 Portfolio)
  • Participation (HT 21 Närvaro)



Module - Completed Exam


Click on the Completed exam (Klarat skriftlig tentamen)A new window appears, select the Details tab.

  • The blue section, at the top of the list, shows the logic for the items below:
    • Any of the following = OR logic
    • All of the following = AND logic
  • For each item in the list, you may connect the item to a real event (exam, form, assignment...). In this case, to finish off the module Completed exam (Klarat skriftlig tentamen)you need to complete, one of the items in the list;
    • The regular exam for the course (Ordinare tenta)
    • OR the Resit exam (Omtentamen)
    • OR a smaller exam for students studying in another town (Komplettering)

Note: in this module, the items still need to be connected to a real exam, by clicking on the text Pick Exam

  • Under the Settings section, to the right, controls:
    • Published to students
    • Publish grades (should the student see how many of the tasks were fulfilled within the module, or not)



Module - Portfolio Details


Click on the Portfolio (HT 21 Portfolio). A new window appears.

  • The blue section, at the top of the list, shows the logic for the items below:
    • Any of the following = OR logic
    • All of the following = AND logic
  • For each item in the list, you may connect the item to a real event (exam, form, assignment...).  In this case, to finish off the module Portfolio (HT 21 Portfolio) you need to complete, all of the items in the list;
    • HT 21 Närvaro (attended form)
    • AND HT 21 Färdigheter (skills form)
    • AND HT 21 Mini CEX (special form)
    • AND HT 21 PU (personal development form)

Note: in this module, the items are connected to real forms, marked with active links (in red) to the items)

  • Under the Settings section, to the right, controls:
    • Published to students
    • Publish grades (should the student see the specific goals)



Module - Portfolio Student Performance


Click on the Student performance button (in orange). A new tab opens. The teacher can check out the progress of the students, in the list. The teacher can see whether they have made progress within one or more of the items in this module or if they did nothing or completed the entire module.


This view can help the teacher to remind/help students to fulfill their portfolios. A teacher can send a message to one or many students, or send an internal message (group) inside the system, to communicate with the student.

Dashboard

Click on the My exam activities menu to the left. Under the Form progress section, the student will find their different modules.




Module - Expected Attainment


Under the Form progress section, click on one of the modules, Portfolio | Klinisk Medicin II | LÄK001 | HT21 | Mini CEX. Under the tab Expected attainment, the student can see requirements for this module. The list contains all items and also the performed times and the level of complement.



Module - My progress


Under the Form progress section, click on one of the modules, Portfolio | Klinisk Medicin II | LÄK001 | HT21 | Mini CEX. Under the tab My progress the list is populated with the completed items for the module.
